Iqbal Training College, affiliated to the University of Kerala offers a two year B.Ed program with specializations in English, Mathematics, Natural Science, Physical Science and Social Science. The institution strictly follows the B.Ed curriculum prescribed by the University of Kerala and ensures quality teacher education through systematic academic planning and disciplined implementation.
The activities of the B.Ed program are organized under College- Based Activities, Community- Based Activities and School- Based Activities enabling student- teachers to develop professional competencies, social responsibility and teaching skills.
College Based Activities
The college conducts all the academic and co- curricular components prescribed for the four semesters. This includes:
- Completion of theory papers for all semesters
- Conducting of workshops, seminars, demonstration classes and internal assessments.
- Preparation of teaching- learning materials
- Participation in various co- curricular programs designed to enhance creativity, leadership, communication and professional readiness.
Through these structured activities, the college ensures that student- teachers acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and pedagogical skills required for effective teaching.
Community Based activities
The institution undertakes several community-based programs aimed at cultivating civic awareness, cooperation and social commitment among student- teachers. Major initiatives include:
- SUPW (Socially Useful Productive Work)
- Campus cleaning activities
- Community service programs on significant national and international observance days.
A key feature of community engagement is the Community Living Camp; a five-day residential camp organized in the college campus. The camp offers opportunities for collaborative living, extension activities, cultural programs, environmental initiatives and serv ice- oriented tasks. This experience plays a vital role in shaping the social outlook and life- skills of student- teachers.

School Based Activities
Student – teachers complete two phases of the School Internship Programme during the third and fourth semesters in various selected schools. These internships provide authentic classroom experiences and allow student- teachers to integrate theory into practice.
During the internship, they participate in
- Curricular activities- lesson planning, teaching, assessments
- Co- curricular activities- club events, academic programmes
- Extra- curricular activities- Club activities, Iftar and mehendi fest, Independence Day celebrations, Republic day celebrations, Teachers day celebrations, Talent day, Convocation ceremony
All internship activities and student- teacher performances are evaluated by an external committee appointed by the University of Kerala ensuring transparency, objectivity and compliance with university standards.
